Language models have revolutionized the field of artificial intelligence, enabling machines to understand and generate human-like text. GPT-3, developed by OpenAI, has been at the forefront of this revolution, garnering significant attention for its impressive capabilities.

InstructGPT is a language model developed by OpenAI that is designed to follow instructions and provide more focused and relevant outputs. Unlike GPT-3, which generates text based on patterns learned from a vast amount of data, InstructGPT is fine-tuned on a large dataset of instructions and corresponding responses.

InstructGPT outperforms GPT-3 when it comes to understanding and executing specific instructions and users have more control over the mode's behaviour.

Also, the results of the study showed that InstructGPT outperformed GPT-3 on both TruthfulQA and RealToxicityPrompts.

The model's performance may vary depending on the complexity and clarity of the instructions provided. Additionally, like other language models, InstructGPT may still generate biased or inaccurate outputs in certain contexts.

It is important to consider the potential implications of OpenAI's language models. These language models are used in a variety of applications such as educational tools, writing tools, games and many more.

The fact that we are seeing more care with trustfulness, biases and other factors as part of the training process is a trend that I expected but gladly welcome seeing. This is encouraging news that suggests the industry is taking note of the potential dangers of these technologies and exercising caution in their use while leveraging the power of these great models.
